Throwing you some BACK this Thursday 😜🤓 We started today’s AKT Intensive class by bringing awareness to our BACK and posterior chain. We so often think about the front of our body, but because of excessive screen use and sedentary lifestyles, we often forget how important posture is and we compromise form to just “get through it.” Taking care of our spine should be #1 on our physical priority list. Our heart and muscles will condition themselves faster and safer and more proportionally when we move from a place that supports proper posture and movement mechanics. 👉🏻TRY THIS: stand with your back, head, and heels pressed up against a wall. Then slide your palms down the wall, depress your shoulder blades, lift your sternum an inch to decompress your spine, while keeping your gaze forward. Then try to maintain that position and walk away from the wall. Tough?!? It should be!! TWISTED⚡️⚡️⚡️ My fave exercise from my AKT CIRCUIT class this morning 🤩!! It will get your heart racing and challenge every muscle in your body!! In this video I’m using a 10lb weight, but use a weight that’s best for YOU! It should challenge you, but not throw you off balance. Try 10 slow reps on each side with 1min of jacks between sides (to give your muscles a break) 💪🏻💪🏻 🌟🌟Today in my AKT NoMad Intensive, I led the group through CIRCUIT- a 45min HIIT POWER class!! When you pair that workout with the endurance based BANDS workout we did yesterday, you get CRAZY fast results. You challenge your muscles with a variety of contractions, on all planes of motion, and your heart is challenged to spike and recover as opposed to staying consistently elevated, as we did yesterday. Tomorrow, we will finally take the bands away, and ask each participant to move through space functionally, with DANCE. We brought more awareness to their posture and proper movement mechanics over the last two days using those bands and so tomorrow when we take them away, they will be more prepared to move intelligently and INTENTIONALLY through space. Like ✨✨✨!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Through my AKTechnique, I can actually give you EVERYTHING you need to be in the best shape of your life. Intention is really a heightened state of awareness around WHY you are there and WHAT you hope to accomplish in that finate period of time for YOU. So often I find that we reserve that INTENTION for yoga or restorative practices and we don’t bring enough of it into our YANG. This week, set your INTENTION with us. Between now and Saturday, set the goal to be more present in each of your workouts. 🙌🏼TRAVEL WORKOUT👊🏻 Okay, #IRL I was DRAGGING today. I’ve been traveling non stop working early mornings and late nights and after the banquet last night I was having a tough time motivating this morning. But THEN @brittney5280 showed up and I said, “if she got her booty up for me, then I’m going to rise up for HER.” And we CRUSHED IT!! And I felt SO much better afterwards and ready to take on my last meetings in Atlanta!!! 🌟Working out with a friend is everything when you’re traveling! It’s so much harder to push snooze when someone else is meeting you! Set up a time to get coffee, gab before, and then push each other!! It works!! 🌟Bring a travel speaker because music helps SO much!! Or each bring wireless headphones and press play simultaneously to the same playlist! Surprise each other with your fave music!! 🌟Bring a workout circuit that can be done in any gym, or my AKT app and try my CIRCUIT or 4PLAY workouts!!
